The Shanghai Summer School (BRICS Program) is sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, hosted by the Center for BRICS Studies, FDDI Fudan university, has been held for nine sessions from 2014 to 2022. Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic in 2020, in order to ensure that students can participate in activities in a safe and healthy environment, the BRICS summer program has been adjusted from offline to online. The BRICS program focuses on the theme of exchange and integration. It aims to create a platform for friendship and consensus for young students from BRICS countries, and promote the young generation of BRICS countries to understand China’s social, cultural, political and economic development, The understanding and interest of BRICS cooperation and global governance reforms, promote mutual exchanges, consolidate the public foundation of BRICS cooperation, and let students experience the meaning behind BRICS, thus inspiring young students from BRICS countries to pay attention to BRICS cooperation and contribute to the gold. The desire for future development of brick-and-mortar cooperation. This project has invited nearly 20 well-known scholars and experts from BRICS countries to give lectures, from academia and industry, such as Shanghai Institute of International Studies, Fudan University, Nehru University, South Africa University, Central Asia University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai International Studies University, East China Normal University, East China University of Political Science and Law, as well as New Development Bank, Brazil Vargas Foundation, China Arms Control and Disarmament Association and PetroChina Economic and Technological Research Institute. The course content covers emerging issues such as BRICS and global economic governance reform, BRICS security cooperation, the role of BRICS in global health governance, climate-change energy, and the New Development Bank, in line with the world situation and the latest development of BRICS. All program courses are taught in English. In addition, the project also arranges a variety of activities such as ice-breaking games, World Café and New Development Bank (NDB) lectures, so that students will not feel boring when participating in online courses.
